KINO REBELDE
Kino Rebelde is a Festival Distribution and Sales Agency created by María Vera in early 2017. Initially focused exclusively on documentary, experimental and hybrid narratives, the company started working also with fiction films in 2023.
In the last six years, Kino Rebelde established itself as a “boutique agency” through a careful selection of a few titles per year. Our selection is based on aesthetic, narrative, and political elements and we have a special predilection for the transgression in all of them.
Kino Rebelde supports short, medium, and feature-length films, from any country, with linear or non-linear narratives from experienced or new filmmakers. Films with strong author points of view, where human relations, identities, desires, memory, risks, and criticism are developed sensitively find a unique place in our catalogue.
Transparency and diversity are fundamental in our philosophy of work, together with personal communication, collaborations, and strategic partnerships.
We accompany films and filmmakers in the creative process of promoting and elaborating specialized and innovative strategies for each project, considering formal and alternative windows worldwide, and traveling around festivals and markets.
The films in our catalog have been selected and awarded in festivals such as Berlinale, Locarno, IFFR Rotterdam, IDFA & IDFA DocLab, Oberhausen, Visions du Réel, New York FF, Hot Docs, Jeonju IFF, Viennale, Sarajevo FF, Mar del Plata IFF, and Doclisboa.
They have also been presented in spaces like the Museum of Modern Art NYC (MoMA), Museum Reina Sofia, Centre Pompidou, Pera Museum, Harvard Film Archive, Museum of Moving Image NYC (MoMI), Korean Film Archive, Image Forum Tokyo, Barbican Centre, National Art Gallery, La Cinémathèque française, The Cinematheque (Vancouver), Maysles Documentary Center.
